Despite a limited roster, the U12 team battled their way throughout the tournament to emerge as gold medal winners.
Edmonton has been kind this month to the female U12 Northern Strikers, who, three weeks ago, won gold at the FC Memorial Cup Challenge in the Alberta city.
Moving up to the U14 division, the Northern Strikers Competitive A team also took home a gold medal, going on an undefeated journey en route to a Slush Cup championship.
Without suffering a loss throughout the tournament, the U14 Northern Strikers found themselves facing off with the Grande Prairie Wolves for tournament supremacy. It was our Northern Strikers that took home the gold courtesy of a Tea Brown game-winning-goal.
The fun doesn’t stop there for these clubs, as both the U12 and U14 teams will be traveling back to Alberta in two weeks, to compete at the Provincial Championships, which will be played in Calgary.
Last year, the U12’s finished with a bronze medal at the Provincial Championships.
