36th Stompede rolls into Grande Prairie

In addition, there are a number of other top competitors in bareback, bull riding, steer wrestling and tie-down roping performing, as well as ladies barrels. 

Most of the rodeo competitors are from Canada, along with performers from the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, including 11 from the Peace Country. Gaileen Babcock of FortSt. John and Marti Hampton of Dawson Creek are both competing in ladies barrels.  


Chuckwagon performances begin Wednesday and Thursday at 5 p.m., followed by rodeo performances at 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday the rodeo performances will begin at 1 p.m., followed by the chuckwagons at 6 p.m. 

Throughout the week there are also barbecues, pancake breakfasts, and a beer garden, along with a number of other activities, with entertainment provided by country stars Aaron Pritchett and Joe Diffie. Miss GP Stompede will also be crowned.
