Danielle Armstrong is with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She says so far no teams have signed up for the event as a result of the date change.
“Officially, we have no teams registered as of today,” she says. “We’re facing a unique dilemma this year because our event is being held 2-3 months later in the year than it usually is because of staff constraints. We were down to only one staff member then but we now have enough man power for the event.”
Armstrong says another issue that is making things challenging for finding teams is the belief that the event has already passed.
We’re hitting some unique obstacles with other community events taking place, and people thinking that it has already passed. We want people to know that it hasn’t passed, and that it is coming up and we are looking for registrations, and we are counting on the community to come out as they always do and to make this event a success.”
The theme for the afternoon is Luau on the Lanes, so people are encouraged to dress up and participate.
There are a number of prizes available for the top fundraisers for the cause including return airfare for two, an IPod Touch, a pizza party, as well as a variety of other prizes.
So far $4,000 has been raised, and the organization is hoping to raise $25,000 which will be going towards core operating costs.
