Unfortunately, trouble found the local golfer right away. After a par on the 10th to start her day, a bogey and double bogey on the 11th and 12th respectively had her at three over after her first three holes.
The middle portion of her round was solid after that difficult start. She was able to achieve par on the next six holes, and, despite a bogey when she got to the first hole, her following six holes were solid once again, including a birdie on the sixth hole. Her round concluded with back to back bogeys on holes eight and nine.
Samantha Richdale of Kelowna B.C. is the clubhouse leader after the first round. She shot a seven under, 65 for a healthy lead over the competition as three golfers are tied for second place at two under par.
