The conference began this morning as Edmonton city councillor and federation president Karen Leibovici released a report on the state of Canada’s cities and communities.

B.C.’s senior federal minister, Heritage Minister James Moore, is addressing the gathering this afternoon, as part of the federation’s aim to strengthen federal partnerships with local governments.

Federal N-D-P Leader Thomas Mulcair, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau and Green Leader Elizabeth May are also slated to speak to delegates before the convention wraps up on June 3rd.
