Local golfers swing through Taylor for golf tournament in support for the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce

Kathy Miller is the President of the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce. She says the tournament allows the chamber to raise funds while giving locals the opportunity to meet with one another on the course.

“We have an annual best ball golf tournament for the Chamber, and to bring our members out to mingle, get to know each and do some PR work,” Miller says.

The funds raised at the tournament help with the Chamber’s day to day operations, and ¬†helps support situations when the organization lobbies government for different causes.

“It goes towards our policies through the AGM, basically lobbying the government for policies that may affect our industry,” Miller explains. “Also for the running of our chamber office. We’re a not for profit organization, and our budget is basically strictly used with membership and fundraisers.”

In all, 37 members had registered for the event. Miller also wanted to pass on her thanks on behalf of the Chamber to the Lone Wolf Golf and Country Club for providing the venue for the tournament.
