In a March report to City Council, City Manager Diane Hunter wrote that the most interesting offer so far has been from the Pomeroy Group, who envisions a combined retail/hotel/residential development. She also recommended consulting the community before deciding to sell the land.
The development of this property is intended to be a foundation to build future developments around, and should be an example of the use and design the City would like to see in other nearby sites. Some of the goals included in the request are to have retail spaces at street level and residential above, and the incorporation of a pedestrian plaza, with room for sidewalk or patio cafes and small events.
Parties interested in purchasing and developing the lot have until May 27, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. to submit their expression of interest. The submissions will be ranked and presented to City Council at a later date for decision. Questions can be submitted to [email protected] or by calling 250-787-8150.
