The first event on the day will be bingo power walking from the Northern Vac Track at the Pomeroy Sport Centre, and will run until 9:40.
Later that morning at 11, there will be an aquafit class from the North Peace Leisure Pool, and to wrap up the activities, a fitness dance class will be held back at the Pomeroy Sport Centre at 1 p.m.
Paola Banks is with the City of Fort St. John. She says the event is free for seniors, all they have to bring is the appropriate gear for the events.
“They can just show up to any of the activities we have, and it’s free,” she says. “It’s for seniors only, and they just have to bring water bottles, running shoes or bathing suits for the pool”
Banks says the event is being held as a part of Move for Health Day, and it is important to get seniors out for the event.
“May 10th is Move for Health Day, so we are focusing this time on seniors because previously we’ve been focusing on teens or adults,” Banks says. “It’s important for everyone of all ages get motivated to exercise and have a healthier lifestyle”
Seniors participating can take part in one, or all of the activities planned throughout the day.
