Among its questions, the panel has asked for the estimated changes in electricity pricing that would be needed to delay the need for the dam by 10 and 20 years, more details on how several species of birds and other wildlife will be affected, as well as an outline for a Wildlife Resources Follow-up Plan. Hydro is also asked to provide an assessment of the impact on individual species of the loss of nearly 800 hectares of wetlands, as well as the plans for the creation of a new wetland habitat.
B.C. Hydro has already responded to one request for information from the panel, with responses submitted mid-September. The regulatory clock remains stopped while Hydro prepares its responses.
Once all of the requests have been responded to, the panel will assess whether further information is needed, if there should be a public comment period, or, if satisfied, schedule public hearings.
