Trackers like make up of team as second phase of tryouts nears conclusion

Brant Leer is the General Manager for the Trackers. He says the new players are showing a knack for creating offense with their ability to get up and down the ice quickly.

“We’ve got a crop of about 30 boys, Right now the new prospects [have] a lot of scoring, a lot of speed,” he explains. “Size isn’t huge, but today’s game is speed and scoring, so it will do a lot for us.”

The team will go down to 22 players after tomorrow’s final session. Leer adds that there may still be some roster tweaking between that point and the start of the regular season.

“We will go through an exhibition tryout series with Prince George. At that time, [we’ll] probably cut down to 20,” Leer says. “We may have a few returning from other camps, then we have an ice breaker in Grande Prairie the following weekend. By September 25th, we’re down to our final roster for the league.”

The Trackers will be back on the ice for the final day of tryouts in Taylor, from 11:45-1:45.
