In the men’s final last night, Team Sherrard had their way with Team Hansen. The Sherrard rink broke things wide up early scoring two in the second end and three in the third. Skip Dan Sherrard says everything went well over the weekend and avoided a few close calls in the early stages of the tournament.

“We had a good weekend. You come up here and you’re not exactly sure who you’re going to be playing against or what the ice is going to be like,” he says. We had a couple real close games to start that could have gone either way. We came out pretty hot both games today, it’s what we were hoping for.”

Lauren Jenkyns of the St. Albert team took top spot in the women’s portion of the tournament. She says the team dynamic was great throughout the weekend and they hit the shots they needed in the final.

“We just came out, we were all very on. We were very focused and supporting each other when things went wrong,” she states. “We were well matched, it kept it close. There was a few mistakes on both sides and we were just able to capitalize on them when it counted.”

Both teams will move on to play in nationals later this year.
