Corporal Jodi Shelkie says the incident was caused when an SUV tried to make a left turn at the intersection while the light was yellow around 10 a.m.
The truck was northbound at the highway.
“It’s an amber light and both [the truck and the SUV] are attempting to go through it,” she explains. “The semi-truck t-boned it. When the SUV saw the semi coming it attempted to go to avoid it and went into an oncoming lane and there was a vehicle stopped there at a red light so it hit a third vehicle.”
As a result of the crash, the SUV was undriveable, and the semi and third party pick-up received minor damage.
The drivers of the semi and SUV were shaken up with minor injuries, and the SUV went to the hospital as a precaution. There were no injuries in the pick up.
