The KOC Flyers found themselves down early as Fort Saskatchewan was able to jump out to a 2-0 lead 1:11 into the opening period. The Rangers would carry the momentum throughout the frame as they take a 3-0 lead to the locker room after 20 minutes.

The Flyers would find the scoreboard in the late stages of the second period to cut the Rangers lead to two. The goal was an unassisted marker by Austin Crossley. The Rangers would quickly get the goal back however to make things 4-1 and round out the scoring.

Craig Grimes was between the pipes for the Flyers. The Rangers sent 20 shots his way and he was able to turn aside 16.
