Ross Sexsmith is the Treasurer for the Fort St. John Oilmen’s Bonspiel. He says anyone wanting to take part can get into contact with him and there will be a number of items up for grabs and entertainment throughout the event.

“We still have room for teams. The deadline is tomorrow but if anyone was to contact myself we could arrange to get their team entered,” he says. “As for the event itself we get started on Wednesday with one game then we’re in full swing come Thursday morning. We’ve got our stag dinner on the 14th and we’ve got a couple of comedians for our entertainment and a reverse draw. I think just about everyone is going to get something in our reverse draw.”

Sexsmith says that prizes will be given for the top finishers in each bracket and nearly $50,000 in prizes will be awarded.

“There’s prizes for first, second, third, and fourth in each of the five event categories. I believe that first place is prize values of $300 each and then it goes down from there,” he explains. “I think we give out in the neighbourhood of $40,000-$50,000 in cash in prizes over the course of the event.”

Those wanting to add themselves to the 63rd Oilmen’s Bonspiel can get in touch with Ross Sexsmith at 250-262-7106.
