“The tickets are selling like hotcakes this year,” she says. “I don’t know if it was because people were anticipating and waiting and waiting for the tickets to come out.”

Proceeds from the local Mega Lottery campaign helps provide funds to a variety of FortSt. John’s non-profit organizations. In the past more than $200,000 has gone to groups like Minor Hockey, Abbeyfield House, and Northern Dance.

This year the draw will take place at 3:30 p.m. on February 1, 2014 at the Totem Mall.

More than $200,000 in prizes are available to be won including a first place choice of a 2013 Mustang Coupe, a 2012 Ford F150 Truck, or $40,000 Cash and a second place choice of a 2013 Camero Convertible, 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, or $25,000 Cash. Other prizes up for grabs are a Kawasaki Teryx 750, Polaris Razer 9000, $5,000 to Uniglobe Guardian Travel, and a Polaris 800 Snowmachine.

In addition to the money raised going back into the community, Smith notes that all of the prizes are purchased locally as well.

Tickets are available from the booth at the Totem Mall, and at the B.C. Liquor Store and Sobeys during select times, as well as from any Rotarian and any of the participating clubs. The early bird draws for $10,000 and $15,000 will take place on December 5, 2013 and January 2, 2014.
