Input sought on proposed Woodfibre LNG Project

The liquefied natural gas plant would be built near Squamish, B.C. at the waterfront industrial site of Western Forest Products’ former pulp mill, along with a transfer facility. It would then ship between 1.5 and 2.1 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas a year from the area of Kitimat or Prince Rupert.

The CEAA is looking for public input on the project and its potential effects on the environment.  The provincial government has also requested that if an environmental assessment is required, the B.C. process be substituted for the federal one. Comments on the substitution are also being accepted.
