That’s less than 30 per cent of the November total of $54.5 million, but perhaps more alarming is the fact that six of the last eight monthly sales have generated less than $10 million. 

21 of the 30 parcels offered this month were purchased, with the average price per hectare posted as $585. 

This was the last sale prior to the Liberal government unveiling this year’s budget on February 18th, which will be delivered about a week in advance of the next sale set for February 26th. It does nothing to enhance the revenue position of Finance Minister Mike de Jong, who continues to wrestle with a budget surplus, which at last report was projected at $165 million, down from the $197 million estimate in last February’s budget.
