Staff at the arena turned to the building’s PA system, and, powered by backup generators, the show went on with wireless microphones.

The rare acoustic performance got particularly intimate, as the band invited everyone down to the floor to be closer to the stage.

Fans have taken to social media to express how special the event was, and to acknowledge the professionalism of Blue Rodeo, calling them “true artists”. The band also took to Twitter this morning to say, “It doesn’t get anymore rock and roll than this!”

The Encana Events Centre thanks ticket holders for their understanding of the circumstances and their support for Blue Rodeo and supporting act the Devin Cuddy Band.
