The distance is equal to 17,856 kilometres, and one lap around the track will count as 31 kilometres towards the total. 

The challenge will have two categories with the individual challenge starting January 15, and the corporate challenge beginning on January 29.

Registration is free for the event. To sign up you can talk with the recreation attendant on duty at the Northern Vac Track, or customer service rep at the Visitor Centre. Prizes for the Walking Challenge are still to be determined.

The individual challenge runs until February 26, and the corporate challenge goes until March 12.
