BCTF President Jim Iker, says the vote will take place between March 4th and March 6th.

Iker says, if the vote passes, teachers will have 90 days to enact some sort of job action.

Iker added, any initial action would not include immediate school closures or disruptions to students, it would not have teachers stop doing extra curricular actives and would not effect report cards or communication with parents.

The BCTF president said the government has asked for concessions from the teachers and is not offering to restore class-size and composition limits that were stripped from their contract in 2002.

The teachers and the government have been negotiating since before their contract expired June 30, 2013.
