Encana fracking permissions challenged in court

A spokesman for the Western Canada Wilderness Committee and Sierra Club of B.C. says that members believe the Water Act forbids companies from being given short term water withdrawal permits for the same reason.

Fracking drains fresh water from lakes, rivers and streams and mixes the water with chemicals and sand before the liquid is injected at high pressure into natural gas-laden rocks and soil, releasing the gas.
