Firefighters ball once again establishes a new record

Some of the prizes that were up for grabs at this year’s event was a framed and signed Don Cherry suit, a signed Sidney Crosby all star game jersey and WestJet tickets to any destination they fly.

Captain Brent Morgan says the burn fund aids not just firefighters but anyone being treated at the burn ward and goes towards things not under medical coverage.

“It’s not just for firefighters it’s for anybody that’s in the Province of B.C. if they needed to be treated at the burn ward down down in either VGH [Vancouver General Hospital] or at the Children’s Hospital,” he explains. “There’s things like pressure garments that they have to wear when they’re out of the hospital to help their burns heal properly. That stuff is not covered by medical and it’s quite expensive.”

Morgan was obviously quite happy with the total raised and looks forward to beating the new record next year.
