North Peace Community Resources Society Changes Name

Executive Director Karla Marsh says the idea of changing the name has been bandied about for a number of years, but the idea took shape with the society’s 40th anniversary.

The group, which began in 1973, offers a number of services.

They include operation of the Meaope Transition House, womens’ counselling, Children Who Witness, Baby’s Best Chance, sexual abuse intervention, and foster parent support.

Mayor Lori Ackerman feels strongly it’s important organizations, like Community Bridge, are kept alive.

Ackerman, on hand for today’s unveiling, says they keep the ‘social fabric’ of the community together, especially when the city is growing and will continue to grow in the coming years.

For legal purposes, the group will keep the ‘society’ name, but will use COMMUNITY BRIDGE in its day-to-day operations.

It’s also set up a new website.  www.communitybridge.ca.
