Water Levels Easing Near Fort St. John

Water levels from an overflowing culvert drain pipe have dropped considerably since last night.

In fact, some of the water re-froze overnight as temperatures dropped below zero.

Residents of the Edgewood Park Trailer (south of the railway overpass on Highway 97) could only watch water teem past their mobile homes.

Two sections of the Alaska Highway that were under water yesterday afternoon have now dried up.

It may only a short reprieve, though, as the forecast is for warmer temperatures today and tomorrow.

Many fields in the area still have several inches of snow that could melt quickly in the coming days, causing more spring run-off.
