Christy Clark meets with Fort Nelson First Nation to discuss LNG plans

Clark has asked senior officials to work with the Fort Nelson First Nation in a manner that make sure a safe and stable LNG industry benefits all in the province.

In a release Premier Clark says, “Chief Gale and the Council reached out to me with their concerns, and we came here to listen closely. We share the same goals – a prosperous, sustainable economy that benefits all British Columbians, and creates opportunity for generations to come. Today’s meeting was a big step forward for everyone.”

In the same release Chief Sharleen Gale says “We appreciate the Premier’s visit to our community today. We support the Province’s goal of a new LNG industry, but it must be done right – environmentally, culturally and economically. Her visit to Fort Nelson today is an important step in the right direction. Now, the responsibility of both parties is to roll up our sleeves and take action to ensure the highest environmental standards and show the world what we can do.”
