Danielle Armstrong with Big Brothers and Big Sisters says this year’s event theme is celebrating the organization’s 30th anniversary.
“This year’s theme is ‘Back to the 80’s’. It’s actually to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We opened in 1984 so we’re doing an 80’s theme,” she says. “The goal is $25,000. It goes towards our core operating costs so the expenses associated with rent, staffing, recruitment, volunteer training, utilities and things like that.”
Some of the prizes up for grabs this year include a barbecue package and there are incentive prizes based on how much bowlers raise. As for the school challenge there is a trophy and the top fundraising student gets a choice of an iPod, gift cards, or a pizza party.
Event organizers are continuing to look for more teams and corporate sponsors for the V.E. Brandl Bowl for Kids Sake. To register a team or if you are interested in being a sponsor for the event you can call Danielle Armstrong at 250-787-9674.
