Fivestar owner Justin Donally says the response to last year’s Rumble on the Ridge was so strong that Fivestar decided to return again this year.
“It’s the second year we’ve been there. Last year was such a good response in such a small community that we decided to go back,” he states. “The community has gotten behind this and supported this thing huge. We’ve sold double the tables as we did last year. Last year there was close to 800 people there which is phenomenal for a town of under 4,000 people. I think we’re expecting closer to 1,000 this year.”
He adds it means a lot to Fivestar to have the support they do from communities in and around Fort St. John and says that support allows Fivestar to put on shows in various locations.
Community Interviews with Moose FM
“It means a lot. Fivestar wouldn’t be able to do what they do if they didn’t get the community support and that’s why we focus on the small communities,” Donally explains. “Fivestar itself is become a more known brand in the Peace region. We’ve travelled all over the place but Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Grande Prairie, Tumbler Ridge, Prince George, that’s our base. Everybody is getting to know us and they’re travelling to watch our shows now. They know what to expect; they expect a good show with quality athletes.”
Fans should keep an eye out for Dylan Lielke and the Tumbler Ridge kick boxers to put on a solid show for the fans.
“You should really look for Dylan Lielke. He’s from Fort St. John out of our own gym. He’s 3-0 now as an amateur MMA fighter and 1-0 as a kick boxer,” Donally says. “We don’t do amateur titles, I don’t believe in them but if he goes to 4-0 expect him to go pro. The guy is a phenomenal talent and is our jiu jitsu coach here at Fivestar. Our kick boxing coach Paul Rosborough has produced some good kick boxers in Tumbler Ridge. It’s a small town but they’ve got six locals from Tumbler Ridge. They’re really talented guys and up and comers.”
Tickets will be available at the door for the event and will be at the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre. Tables are sold out but there are floor seats and general admission seats still available. Fans wanting to stay in Tumbler Ridge for the night are encouraged to stay at the Wilderness Lodge as you’ll receive a discount if you mention you are with Fivestar.
