Sandy Levac is the Chairperson of the tournament. She says the tournament is the lone fundraiser for the group and it’s much needed after the region expanded that Crime Stoppers covers.

“A huge thank you to our sponsors out there and all the people that came out here and are golfing with us. It’s the only fundraiser that Crime Stoppers does to keep the group going throughout the year,” she states. “I don’t know if everybody knows this but about six years ago we went regional so we cover now from the Alberta border through Tumbler Ridge, Chetwynd, and all the way to Fort Nelson so we need to raise funds.”

Whatever is raised at the tournament will go towards the running of the club and to paying out the tips that come in. There wasn’t a fundraising goal established for the event but Levac is hoping to surpass last year’s total which was around $14,000.

Crime Stoppers is also looking for volunteers to help with the cause. Volunteers dedicate an hour a month and those interested can call 1-800-222-8477.
