Starting pitcher Ryan Stickel says Rycroft is too good of a team for the Black Sox to get comfortable with a lead and made them pay in the end.

“It just seemed like after the fourth inning I’m not sure if we were tired or just got comfortable with the lead but we couldn’t quite seem to make it click after that. Rycroft are a good team. They’ve been in the finals the past couple of years and they can capitalize on stuff like that. They did and we need to learn from that.”

Despite the loss he says it’s good to see the younger players on the roster continue their development especially against stronger teams like Rycroft.

“We’ve got some younger guys on the team like I’ve been saying this year. You can see the maturity come in the at bats with the younger guys. They’re taking good cuts and not getting fooled at the plate. It’s impressive to see against teams like Rycroft that’s had a good run in the league for so long. “

The Black Sox hit the road for two games this weekend as they are in Grande Prairie for a double header on Saturday afternoon.
