Two tourists experience a close call while climbing cliff in Tumbler Ridge

Tumbler Ridge RCMP was notified of two climbers stuck on the cliff face at Bergeron Falls shortly after 2:00 p.m.

Both parties had tried to climb the face, following more experienced persons in the group.

They soon found out however, that they were not prepared for the climb and had overextended themselves.

Tumbler Ridge and North Peace Search and Rescue were dispatched to the site.

With the assistance of a helicopter and rope rescue team, both parties were successfully extracted from the cliff side.

This incident serves as a reminder to be appropriately prepared, and to limit activities to those within your knowledge, skills and abilities.
