Local students receive bursaries through the NPSCU

In addition to completing the application form, students were required to submit a short personal essay accompanied by 2 references.

The NPSCU would like to recognize and congratulate the following students who’ve received the bursary.

Grace Feyissa – She’s attending her first year at Augusta University of Alberta to complete a major in Computer Science and a minor in Environmental Studies.

Eric Woodruff – Woodruff will be attending his first year at the University of Victoria to complete a Bachelor of Science.

Todd Aalhus – He’s enrolled in the first year of a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Thompson River University in Kamloops.

Kiran Waughtal – She’ll also be attending Thompson River University to complete her degree in Criminal Justice.

Jordan Arthur – Arthur is attending his second year at the University of Fraser Valley to complete a Bachelor of Kinesiology.

NPSCU says most of these recipients are moving to attend school in the fall, and it was shared among the company that this bursary would “offset some of the financial costs incurred with living in student housing, in addition to tuition and books.

“Investing in education provides a strong foundation for skill development, leading to the enhancement and strengthening of our communities,” Vice President of Service at NPSCU, Paul McAfee said. “Being able to provide some relief to the financial stress of post-secondary education is another way in which we help our members succeed in life.”

The NPSCU bursaries are available to high school students who are attending post-secondary school and to post-secondary students who are continuing their education.

If you’re planning to attend a recognized college, university or vocational institute for a period no less than a year, NPSCU encourages you to apply for the next application process, which opens in the spring of every year.
