Second annual Touch-a-Truck and United Way Fire Truck Pull

Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to experience some of the exciting hands-on experiences with popular emergency trucks, work trucks, and a Zamboni to name a few.

“Global Spectrum is excited to host the 2nd annual Touch-a-Truck and Fire Truck Pull event here in Dawson Creek,” General Manager of Global Spectrum at the Encana Events Centre, Ryan Maclvor said. “This will be a fun and educational experience for people of all ages. We look forward to seeing the community not only come out and see some fantastic machines, but learn from those who operate them.”

To mark the beginning of the 2014 United Way Fundraiser Campaign, the Fire Truck Pull is the newest addition to the event and an awesome way to participate in a team building challenge, while also donating to a worthy cause. Teams will play “tug of war” with a fire truck weighing over 30,000 pounds, and compete for awards and prizes.

“The Touch-a-Truck and Fire Truck Pull at the Encana Events Centre will be a fantastic event for the entire community to enjoy,” Mayor Dale Bumstead said. “The addition of the Fire Truck Pull will be an amazing spectator event you will not want to miss, and a great way to raise the awareness of how important non-profit organizations such as United Way and the Step Up ‘N’ Ride Society are to communities such as Dawson Creek.”

All the proceeds from the Fire Truck Pull will go directly to the United Way, which supports children, adults, families and seniors who are a part of the network of care in the north.

There’s plenty of fun for the children, including a ride with a rally car driver, who will take the kids for a drive around cones in a real race car, thanks to the Dawson Creek Auto Cross Club, which will also be on site displaying their racing cars. There will also be bouncy castles and face-painting as part of the fun.

The event, which is completely free to attend, takes place in the front parking lot of the Encana Events Centre on August 23, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
