A new light at the end of the tunnel for the ongoing teachers’ strike

That’s where Mediator Vince Ready comes into play, as he’s risen from the surface again and is reported to be in talks with Education Minister Peter Fassbender and BCTF President Jim Iker.

Members of the BCTF voted this week to approve a proposal which would have the school year starting up again, but decided it was contingent on government agreeing to binding arbitration.

Fassbender went on record yesterday to say he’s no longer against a legislative settlement, however, if he’s found a new position amid mediation remains unknown.

Ready has been in and out of the teachers’ dispute with the province for some time now, most recently walking away from the table on August 30th when he declared the two sides are still too far apart.
