“They’re all top drawer headlining comedians…many have been in the business for 20 and 30 years,” Organizer of the comedy fest and Owner of the Lido, Brain Kirscher said.
Kirschner added, “We’ve got Mike Dambra and Damonde Tschritter, Dave Dempsey, Dylan Mandlsohn, Larry Horowitz, Ray Anderson, Andrew Grose, John Wing, Dave Merry. The line-up is definitely top-notch.”
The locations in which you can catch a show include the Lido, the Legion, Overtime Sports Bar and Grille, Lone Wolf Golf Club, Chances Casino and Lakepoint Golf and Country Club.
“You never know what’s going to come out of their mouths,” Kirschner explained, adding the Lido is hosting a ‘Down and Dirty’ show on Saturday, which is one of the only that has an age restriction. “They make a lot of people laugh; and some things may be politically incorrect or gender specific.”
As for the rest of the venues, it’s up to the host’s discretion as to the age limit upon entrance.
Kirschner says he would like the comedy fest to become an annual event, and goes on to say he would like to see larger television networks engaging in coverage, adding the only way to make that possible is by ensuring a successful first year with packed houses.
“Of course, year one is always a little tougher but I think having the venues on side and having people come out (will have an impact),” Kirschner said.
The official tagline for the venue is ‘a city filled with laughter is an energetic city’, which Kirschner say rigs true in regard to the hard working populace of Fort St. John.
“Everybody up here works very hard and they work long hours,” Kirschner proudly explained. “Everybody needs a good laugh and I think bringing in the comedy fest will do that…We look forward to doing it every year at this same time.”
The comedy fest runs September 18 – 20.
Tickets are $20.00 a piece and can be purchased by calling any of the vendors or by simply calling the Lido at 250 785 3011.
