Lieutenant Brandon Braam of the Tumbler Ridge Fire Department says the interior of the home only suffered water damage, but says he assumes the house will have to be completely torn down and rebuilt.

“We’re still investigating it and the family is being taken care of,” Braam said, adding the residents were taken to hospital as a precaution and are currently bunking with in-town family members.

While the fire is not being looked at as suspicious at this point, Braam says the insurance company has called in an electrical personal and the fire department plans to call an electrical inspector from Dawson Creek to investigate.
