Among the things to keep in mind are to pay extra attention at crosswalks, at loading, and unloading areas for school buses, and near parent vehicles.

Police advise motorists to be aware of children while leaving their driveway or garage, and to look for students walking or biking to school.

It’s also recommended that parents help their children learn and practice safety rules for walking, or biking to school, as well as when riding in a car.

Officers will be patrolling school zones as classes for the school year begin.
