Searches began early Tuesday morning as 33 officers were at five residences in Fort St. John, and another residence in Taylor. The remaining two searches were at storage lockers at unspecified locations. A substantial amount of cocaine, marijuana, firearms, and cash were taken in by police.
In a release Corporal Jodi Shelkie of the Fort St. John RCMP said, “A lot of evidence was seized during these search warrants. Officers are currently processing and examining this evidence. It will be a few weeks before we have detailed information on the amount of drugs, firearms, and money seized.”
Shelkie added, “We are extremely pleased with the work of the Drug Unit. Any time we can get this quantity of illegal drugs and dangerous firearms off the streets, it makes Fort St. John safer.”
As a result of the action eighteen people were arrested. Police are recommending a number of drug and firearm charges against seven of the individuals. Additional charges are expected to come at a later date.
