Crystal Cup a “full go” for B.C. Family Day weekend

President of the Crystal Cup Neil Evans said the fourth annual event will indeed happen and discussions are ongoing pertaining to ideas for the February event.

“Crystal Cup is going to be another full go so we’re into our fourth year. There hasn’t been a formal meeting but there’s definitely talks of course in the dressing room about plans we have for this upcoming year,” he stated.

Among those talks is the hopes to have hockey hall of famer Lanny McDonald attend, as well as bring back the beer tens and the kids skating rink.

“We’re hopefully going to get Lanny McDonald on the scene this year. Once again we’re hoping to be bigger and better than ever. We’re going to have all of the same accommodations including the beer tents, public skating rink, and kids skating rink, and hopefully keep it at 40 teams, or maybe expand in a few different areas as well,” Evans explained.

The campaign for volunteers and registration will likely begin just before Christmas.
