Freezing rain warning issued for Fort Nelson

“Freezing rain has been reported over southern sections of the Fort Nelson region and is expected to develop over Fort Nelson this morning,” Environment Canada said in a written statement. “As the surface temperature gradually rises above zero this afternoon, the freezing rain will turn to light rain or showers.”

Environment Canada warns surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery, advising commuters to take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
