The local airport weather station has posted a snowfall total for yesterday of 9.5 centimetres, and the temperature is just far enough below freezing, to make road surfaces slippery.
The snowfall total was right in line with Environment Canada’s low end estimate for the Fort St. John region and pushed the month-to-date total to 15.5.
That in turn is only about four centimetres less than the October average for this area, and the long range forecast calls for flurries on Sunday and more snow next Tuesday.
The airport station also posted Thursday’s precipitation as 9.5 millimetres and that month-to-date total is now up to 29.6, and only about one millimetre off the monthly norm.
Yesterday’s totals were not daily records, but they would have been had we received them today.
