Investigators have concluded that the tractor trailer was eastbound and the Pontiac Aztek was westbound when they both lost control and traction.

The driver of the Aztek, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is believed to be an Alberta resident.

The highway remains closed in both directions while officers continue working on a detour.
