Alberta RCMP issues travel advisory for northern and southern parts of the region

“Highways to the north of Edmonton have snow accumulation and blowing snow which has caused poor visibility in some areas,” the advisory reads.

RCMP Commanding Officer, Deputy Commissioner Marianne Ryan is recommending that you do not travel unless it is necessary, and if so, ensure you are prepared with proper emergency clothing and equipment.

“The QEII is very slippery and there are multiple collisions on going between Edmonton and Calgary.”

The advisory goes on to read, “Highways south of Edmonton are in poor driving condition and there are several vehicles that have slid off the road.”

The RCMP is also warning those on the road to “use caution and be aware of emergency vehicles.”
