Aurora LNG was originally slated for the northern portion of Grassy Point, but at the joint venture’s request, the province has agreed to transfer the sole proponent agreement to Digby Island, an area in which Aurora LNG has identified as a more suitable site for an export facility.

Under a pre-existing agreement, Aurora LNG has paid B.C. two non-refundable payments totalling $18 million.

The joint venture of Aurora LNG includes Nexen Energy ULC, INPEX Corp. and JGC Exploration Canada Ltd.
