‘Be an Angel’ with the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation

“We purchase equipment that enhances patient care and comfort so it covers every department in our hospital,” Executive Director for the Hospital Foundation, Ashley Bentley said. “It’s not just one specific department, it’s everywhere.”

One of the first fundraising initiatives, ‘Be an Angel Gala,’ was held on Saturday – a sold out dinner/live and silent auction that managed to raise $84,000.

Those funds surpassed last year’s gala which managed to pull in $77,000.

The foundation’s goal is to raise $250,000 by month’s end, and if you would like to contribute any funds, almost every financial institution in Fort St. John is participating, excluding TD bank.

You can also expect a package in your mailbox from the foundation to help better understand their goals and initiatives.

“In there is just a little letter explaining what we’re fundraising for, and a buck clip, and then a little ornament as well – a little paper ornament I guess I should say,” Bentley goes on to explain. “Anybody who makes a donation to the campaign can fill out a paper ornament, and then we hang it on a 15 foot Christmas tree inside the lobby of the hospital here.”

Once the campaign month concludes and December 1 rolls through, the foundation will light the Christmas tree, included with the paper ornaments – showcasing all of those who’ve contributed to their fundraising initiatives.
