The races are being hosted by the Fort St. John Elks Speed Skating Club, and B.C. Speed Skating under the supervision of Speed Skating Canada. The Canada Cup is for senior and junior A, B, and C2 skaters.
Men and women skaters will be taking part in distances of 500, 1,000, and 1,500 metres. Women skaters will also be in the 3,000 metre race, while the men will be taking part in race distances of 5,000, and 10,000 metres.
The event will also serve as the trials for B.C.’s long track speed skating team for the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George in February.
