Students from local elementary schools vote in mock poll

It turns out the 314 student voters would have chosen to have Councillor Bruce Christensen and Larry Evans switched for Dan Pope and Tamara Wilkinson.

When compared, Pope received 32 votes versus Christensen with 18. Wilkinson generated 24 votes while Evan had 12 votes to his name.

Our Mayor by acclamation, Lori Ackerman was also part of the experiment and was supported by 57 votes.

There were 172 participants from Bert Ambrose Elementary and 142 from Robert Ogilvie Elementary.

Elementary students from across the province participated in the first-ever Student Vote local government elections program in B.C. this year.

Student Vote is an experiential civic education program designed to help young people under the voting age learn about democracy and voting.
