The team consists of Skip Karsten Sturmay, Third Tristan Steinke, Second Brett Winfield, and Lead Mac Lenton. After the contest Sturmay said the final shot to force the extra end was big as the team had been battling hard all game.

“That shot was huge. It was really back and forth the whole game and things were not looking so great after I missed my first one but it was nice. We just buckled down and resiliency is what that was,” he stated.

The shot in the eighth end was tricky to say the least as there were a number of guards to navigate through as well as a packed house. The squad was forced with choosing between drawing for one and sacrificing the hammer in the extra end, or going for the win with a very risky shot, but they chose the draw.

“We just thought that we had a better chance throwing that. Obviously it was a tough shot but we slammed that one into there and doubled those ones off of,” Sturmay explained. “That’s so hard to call. It was a cold draw; we had no backing. We had an idea about the weight but we weren’t quite sure because we were seeing a lot of fudge in the ice but thankfully we had some good sweepers on that and had a good judge on that. It was definitely a team shot.”

The team had cruised through their other games prior to winning in the finals. They won their draw two match-up 6-3, defeated finalist Team Veiner 7-3 in draw four, and had an easy 7-0 win in the semi finals.
