Those projects are valued at over $9,000,000 and the grant applications were valued at over $1,000,000. The gap comes from the fact that not all projects are fully funded. As of now $112,000 in grants has been secured.

Development officer Jennifer Moore said she hopes the City will be willing continue in the partnership as they play a key part in making grants possible.

“This project is funded through the Northern Development Initiative Trust. They provide a grant of $8,000. The NPDC then tops that up so we can offer a reasonable salary for our part time contractor. The City of Fort St. John’s contribution in addition to the grant money was $5,000 last year, she said.”

In the region there were 294 grants over the past year. 41 of those have been approved, and $680,000 in successful grants have been distributed. Since 2010 almost $5,000,000 in grants have been awarded.
