In Saturday’s game the Flyers opened the scoring with less than seven minutes left in the first period. They held that lead into the second period.

Just over two minutes into the second period the Mustangs tied the game. The Flyers took the lead once again with 5:21 remaining in the frame, but the minutes after were a tough pill to swallow as the Mustangs tied the game a minute later, and took the lead with just 55 seconds remaining.

The Flyers kept battling in the third. They tied the game with 5:11 left in regulation, however another late goal was the difference as Sturgeon netted a powerplay goal with 14 seconds to go.

In Sunday’s tilt things weren’t as close for Fort St. John. Sturgeon jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The teams traded two goals each in the second as the Flyers trailed 4-2.

In the third period the Mustangs went up 6-2 with two goals. Fort St. John closed the gap to 6-3 but that’s as close as they would get. Sturgeon scored with just over five minutes left to close out the scoring.

Finding the back of the net for the Flyers were John Herrington, Noah Land, and Tyler Musgrove.
