“These are the hardest decisions to make,” Premier Clark said in a year end CKNW interview. “That’s why we need to make sure we do it right.”

In the interview she goes on to say Hydro must answer tough questions about the project price tag and its impact on the work force and First Nations.

She added the decision is still very much up in the air.

“This may be the most long term, the most expensive decision anyone who is in the legislature today will participate in making- an $8 billion decision that is going to have a ripple effect for generations.”

The Premier was also quoted as saying in the interview that the final decision on the project will come in the next couple of months.

Meantime she also remains optimistic about building a B.C. liquefied natural gas industry.

In the same interview, the Premier noted her government has now done its part by laying out tax and environmental rules for LNG proponents and now the ball is in the industry court.

“I’m hopeful that we’ll get a final investment decision in the next little while,” Premier Clark said. “You know, the problem is I can’t predict that, these are private sector decisions.”

Premier Clark adds, “All we can do is everyday work as hard as we possibly can to create the environment for investment; for job creation – and that is what we’re focused on.

In last year’s election, the liberals campaigned on the LNG industry development, claiming it could create up to 100,000 jobs and be a key to paying off the provincial debt.
